Turf Lawns

Turf is generally divided into warm climate grasses and cool climate grasses. In selecting the ideal fertilizer, the variety of grass is not as important as the seasonal conditions on application.

For example throughout the spring and summer months, a fertilizer higher in nitrogen rather than potassium would be beneficial, whereas an application of fertilizer with higher potassium before the turf slows down in the cooler months would be recommended.

Fertilizer is generally applied once or twice a year. However, more frequent applications of less fertilizer would actually be more beneficial and we recommend dividing the yearly rate and applying every one or two months.

Paton offers several products ideal for lawn applications such as:

Sulphate of Ammonia is used by many people as a lawn fertilizer. It contains nitrogen and sulphur which can increase growth. However long-term use should be balanced with a complete fertilizer and applications of dolomite every second year.
