Paton Azalea & Camellia Food
Azalea & Camellia Food is an organically based formulation that contains a complete range of essential nutrients including trace elements for vigorous growth and vibrant blooms.
Suitable For
Azaleas, Camellias, Rhododendrons, Daphnes and Gardenias.
Best Time to Apply
There should be two applications per season during active growth periods, in early spring and late summer.
How Much to Apply
For clay soils, 25-50 grams per square metre should be applied on young plants, while 50/75 grams per square metre should be applied on more established plants and shrubs.
Sandy soils will require lesser amounts, but more frequent applications. The suggested frequency for sandy soils is four times a year in mid-August, mid-October, mid-December and mid-March, at a rate of 15-30 grams per square metre on smaller shrubs, and 30-50 grams per square metre on established larger plants. Always water in well after application. Ideally this is best used in conjunction with a good organic mulch over the root zone of the plants.
N.B. One measure (25ml) holds approximately 25 grams.
Precautions
Avoid using on tub plants. We suggest using Paton's Controlled Release Multicote Red. Do not exceed recommended dosage rates, as excessive fertilizer use is both harmful to plants and the environment. Azaleas and Daphnes in particular have a shallow fibrous root system. Avoid mechanical incorporation techniques which may damage these roots and expose them to fungal attack or fertilizer burn.
